Camp Concordia | 7th Grade Confirmation

Posted by Brian West on

"There's nothing like camp!"

Anyone who's been to camp knows the experience is one that cannot be replicated at home.  The ride to and from, the late night campfires, the opportunity to be pushed outside your comfort zone, farting stories (let's be honest), and leaders who can't get enough coffee...

Yes, there's nothing like camp.

Last year, as a part the confirmation journey here at Trinity, we added two camp experiences: Camp Concordia for 7th Graders & Camp Arcadia for 8th Graders.  As a NextGen team, we know the camp experience is one that helps to stretch and strengthen faith.  The students who went last year, both to Concordia and Arcadia, grew in faith and grew together as a community.  From our perspective - this is a WIN.  A BIG win.

We're excited to be headed back to both camps this year!!!

Our 7th Graders will travel to Gowen, Michigan on Friday September 16th and meet Doc (Dr. Craig Oldenbeg, Camp Director) and his wife Mary who will be our hosts for the weekend and who will be our facilitators in team building exercises.

The focus of our time at Camp Concordia is "SERVICE" -

  1. Service to Self
  2. Service to Others
  3. Service to the King
  4. Serving is Leading

Our group serves Camp Concordia rather than the other way around.  We help to clear trails, cut wood, pick up trash, clean buildings, and paint.  Our students are also responsible for preparing, cooking and serving the meals for one another (it's the best).  We'll spend time in bible study, worship and yes...good ole' hootin' and hollerin' fun!!

We have a Parents' Meeting on August 14th at 12PM in the Youth Lounge.  This meeting will give key details for schedule, packing, and volunteer needs.  If your student is registered for Camp, please make every effort to attend.

If you're on Facebook, don't forget to search for our Group - Trinityct Students or sign up for our NextGen Newsletter.
